The Gift of Time

Good Shepherd Shelter (GSS) has worked for over 41 years to help families who are victims of domestic violence move through their immediate crisis and break the cycle of violence in their lives and the lives of their children through self-empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Our volunteers have been a large part of our success.

We are so excited with heartfelt gratitude that you want to join us in this amazing work — either by participating in one of our Days of Service, becoming a volunteer Auxiliary Guild member or possibly working directly with our moms and their children, as a class mentor, tutor or program facilitator. We are looking for compassionate and hardworking people who want to make a positive change in the lives of our families anyway they can.

Thank you for wanting to join Good Shepherd Shelter in healing, inspiring and supporting our domestic violence families.

Volunteers are needed and always welcomed!

Volunteer Opportunities

Day of Service

Good Shepherd Shelter operates a transitional shelter facility, which includes K thru 5 elementary school; 14 unit residential apartment building; and Adult Learning Center.

Volunteers are always needed, to help tutor our families or help to maintain our facilities with landscaping, painting and organization of our boutique and support our special events including our annual Gala and AfterCare program-Annual Christmas give away.

If you are a member of a corporation or an organization, and would like to set up a special group project with your employees or members, please contact us for a date.

Student Mentor

Good Shepherd Shelter is more than a transitional shelter. We are a comprehensive domestic violence intervention program with a strong K-5 elementary and education component that is focused on ensuring that our students achieve grade-level curriculum.

Good Shepherd Shelter is always looking for dynamic volunteer mentors to teach classes on a variety of STEM subjects in ways that empower, educate and motivate.
